Facing Opposition... Acts 4

Jan 24, 2026    Kent Smith

"Facing Opposition" from Acts 4 reminds us that obedience to Jesus will not always be met with applause. After the miraculous healing in Acts 3, Peter and John—ordinary, untrained fishermen—face resistance from religious leaders disturbed by the message that Jesus heals, forgives sins, and rose from the dead. Questioned about their authority, they boldly declare that the miracle was done in the name of Jesus Christ, whom the leaders had crucified. Though threatened and ordered to remain silent, the apostles refuse, choosing obedience to God over fear of man. As the church unites in prayer, God responds by filling them with the Holy Spirit and empowering them to proclaim His Word with boldness. The message challenges believers today to stand firm, show courage, share the Word, and face opposition together—because silence is neither faithfulness nor following Jesus.
